3rd-5th Summer Camp: Clay and Sculpture: Functional Pottery and Design
Description
Students will explore the intersection of design and utility as they create functional clay objects and sculptural forms inspired by everyday use. This camp emphasizes craftsmanship, creative problem solving, and decorative techniques as artists design pieces that are both beautiful and purposeful.
Our artists will:
-
Create functional pottery forms such as bowls, cups, and vases
-
Spend time learning how to throw on the pottery wheel
-
Learn the elements of design that make an object useful in daily life
-
Explore slab, pinch, and coil construction techniques in ceramics
-
Use paper mache and recycled materials to create functional wares they can use
The week concludes with a special exhibition for families on Friday from 3:00-3:30pm at the EAC, where students’ creations will be on display.
